TOBS shaving soap

Has any one tryed this soap and you like it.

(Taylor of Old Bond Street Traditional Shaving Soap)

Andy

I haven't used the Traditional, but I have used Sandalwood and Lavender. They are decent soaps; better than most glycerin soaps, but not in the same league as tallow based soaps. There are many soaps that are better and cheaper than Taylor's.

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with the traditional scent, but I do have both the Sandalwood and the Lavender. I'm probably a bit sentimental on this because TOBS Sandalwood was the first shaving soap I purchased. I think they perform pretty well. They produce a lather that is just a bit thinner than Trumpers for me, but require more product on the brush to make the same amount. I probably won't get a refill of the Sandalwood when it runs out, but I might on the Lavender unless I find another Lavender scented soap that I prefer.

The TOBS Traditional shave soap has the same scent as the T&H Luxury shave soap, mild Lavender with Citrus notes, with the TOBS being slightly more pronounced than the T&H in the scent. The performance is also very similar to the T&H, which for me is very good, though they are not identical soaps (slight variation in the ingredients from what I remember).

For me Trumper's is my choice as they make soaps in the scents I really like, and performance wise they are probably at the top as well. The T&H Luxury is very similar also, but they make just the one soap albeit a very good one. The TOBS are also good soaps, it just depends if you'll like their scents more than the others.

Of the 3 t who makes the better soap?

Andy

Trumper's (by a mile), Taylor's, then Truefitt & Hill. Trumper's are not only better performing soaps than the others, but come in a variety of scents. I like Truefitt & Hill's light lavender scent, but I feel it's the worst of the 3 T's.

Currently using TOBS Sandalwood and getting along fine, but based on comments, when it's finished will maybe give Trumpers a go. But will stick to Sandalwood.

I just tried Taylor of Old Bond Street Traditional Shaving Soap and I like the scent but I have gotten a better shave from other soaps.
