Tobacco

Good afternoon Gents,

I'm in the market for something along the lines of Alt insbruck.

I really enjoy the tobacco note.

Any suggestions for an EDT?

Cavendish Black Extrait from the Gentlemen's Quarter smells like pipe tobacco smoke, my wife actually likes this one. PM me your address and I'll send you what I have left of my sample.

Go to The Perfumed Court's web site. Their search engine is an excellent resource because you can do searches on scent notes. Your results will be limited to the products they sell, but that is a vast amount.

I'm interested in your mention of Alt-Innsbruck. The product contains an extract of the tobacco plant, but (at least to me) smells nothing like raw or burning tobacco.

Czech and Speake Cuba is my favorite. It's also got a hint of rum in there and lime. Like smoking a cuban cigar while drinking a lime margarita.

I like Tobacco scents too.

Michael for Men by Michael Kors, Baldessarini Ambre, Burbery London & Gucci Pour Homme II are just some with Tobacco notes that have ended up in my frag wardrobe as result.

Alt-Innsbruck works pretty well as a cologne as well; try getting just a dab on your undershirt and it'll last all day.

Aramis Havana probably the best bang for buck. More of a cigar tobacco vibe. Can be had pretty reasonably.

Micheal for Men I haven't worn in awhile, but recall it being top notch. I don't remember the tobacco being very dominant, but I remember it being a very nicely blended manly scent with tobacco, sandalwood and patchouli.

I haven't tried Alt Innsbruck so not sure what it's character is.

Tobacco Vanille from Tom Ford is very nice, but right at the dangerous edge of "too unisex" for some wet shavers. It has a nice pipe tobacco note, but a very sweet and loud vanilla dominates. It's also quite potent and very linear.

I love Odori Tabacco, but it's quite pricey, and the Odori line is a bit like Rodney Dangerfield; they don't get no respect. It has a pipe tobacco vibe with vanilla as well. But it's a little more tobacco prominent than Tobacco Vanille and doesn't project as much.

You might have a look over here. One of the Russian Aftershaves "cigare" (or something very close to that) is, in fact, and EDT in a spray bottle (somewhat cigar shaped). The juice is a very nice mix of tobacco, honey, and light spice. The price is great, so you may want to give it a try.

There have been several good recommendation here for scents based on dried tobacco leaf or Pipe Tobacco (which has been sweetened with coumarin/tonka for centuries), but all of them miss the fact that Alt innsbruck does not use a tobacco Absolute or dried leaves of sweetened pipe tobacco.....it uses a natural extract of the FLOWER of the tobacco plant.

Alt Innsbruck is a lightly florally-sweet EDC, with some bite from the menthol, and having smelled almost every tobacco scent on the market niche or designer, it's unique.

BUT imo, if anyone is looking for good tobacco scents, the best for the rough dried leaf aroma is Odori. the best for smelling like a freshly rolled cigar in a cedar box is believe it or not, Banana Republic's Black Walnut. And the best for smelling like a less sweet pipe Tobacco is Black Cavendish Extrait. the best for a tonka-rich Pipe Tobacco is Tobacco Vanille. For the lovers of Peach Melba pipe Tobacco, look to Demeter's Whiskey Tobacco. A very good cheap "cherry pipe Tobacco", very rich in tonka bean, is Bogart pour homme....don't let it's low price fool you, it has the same type of cherry pipe tobacco Versace Dreamer and Burberry London have, only alot stronger.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions.

I have my work cut out for me.

It's seems a bit weird to me, as an ex-smoker, that I would be attracted to this kind of scent. I have to ration my use of the Alt Insbruck to give the other guys a chance.

It smells like a freshly opened pack of Canadian Cigarettes to my nose, only, sweeter.

+1 for Odori. I have a sample vial, and when it runs out, I'll probably start crying. It's really nice.

I've also got a bottle of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and it really only works in the colder months. It's heavy, for sure, and you don't need but one spritz, two max, but it really gets a LOT of compliments.
