Whats are these i see on the bay lately, not going to buy one, but a seller there seems to be selling a lot, though as they are cheap, i suspect no good?

Cheers, i thought that may be the case, though the seller seems to be doing brisk business, as they sell on auction from $5.00-$12.00 everyday, they cost more than the fabled gd's, though he does say they are shave ready

For sufficiently small values of "shave ready"...
Avoid them. They are not suitable for serious use as a straight razor.
I have a Timber Rattler straight razor. $4.99 from BudK. It seems pretty well made. The scales are kind of flimsy and I've read that the metal's no good, but other than that it really looks nice. I've never tried to shave with it and probably never will.
