What is the best way to tightening pins on a razor with ivory scales.
Other than the obvious, very carefully.
Thanks all.

Thanks
carefully is the way to do it.
without washers-Yep, no washers
And ivory really isn't that brittle.-True
So if you do the 'ol tapa-tapa-Thats what I did for about 15 minutes
Tiny Taps, I did not think I was doing anything at first-then...........................Try not to hit the scales is usually the best advice I can give. Very little pressure, just tiny taps with a small ball-peen hammer.
If it doesn't tighten perceptibly after a round of taps, or it tightens but then loosens after a few shaves the pin is likely bent. And a bent pin is only fixed by repinning.
Be careful! Maybe look really carefully for preexisting cracks.
I bet you look at the accidents hoping to see some gore-Take video.....
You know... For research/possible comedy...
Paco is a sick man, I think he wanted to see a grown man cry.
Thank you. I was having trouble breathing with the lump in my throat. If I busted ivory scales I would cry for sure. Glad it worked out.
Boy am I ever glad I did not see THAT before I started. I don't think I would ever try to unpin ivory. Now that we know it all went well I can share this old Lump I had (and still have thinking about it) breaking a pair of pristine Heljestrand ivory scales
