What's new

This may be a slightly strange question...

But does anyone else tend to walk into their bathroom (shave den?) and sniff your soap collection, rub your brushes dry on your face, and roll your razors in the palm of your hand? Sometimes I get distracted, walk in, sniff all my soaps, and walk out. I shave every two days, and I find that I tend to do this during the days when I'm not shaving. I guess another good question may be when does a hobby turn into a sickness?

Yep! Me with soaps and creams:

Are you saying that you are not using a razor without blade in order to simulate a full "shave" ?!?!?

Guilty of all of the above, but don’t you sometimes just enter your den, switch on the light and check on your collection to make sure that they are still all there and that they are perfectly aligned and shiny?

It just lasts a few seconds and when you’re assured that everything is still in order you just switch off the light and carry on.

At times the LOTH catches you doing it and she just rolls her eyes, thinks to herself what a lunatic she married and just gives you that knowing smile.

Well the media and the biographers must have some angle to latch on too, once one makes it on Medical Detectives :pipe:

Not so much with the soap. I have a couple of storage boxes filled up with my soaps all stacked on top of one another in rows.. even though I've the caps all tightly on the soap tubs, every time I take the lid off the storage box a smell escapes and I get this intense waft of all the soap fragrances combined.

I do sometimes just admire the razors in my shave room though. I'll maybe be thinking of one and go and open it's box or case and handle it. Nice to just appreciate the quality and lovely workmanship of the past and maybe just open and close the TTO mechanism.. admiring the designs and thinking "if only it could talk I'm sure it would have some stories to tell" 🤭

You have nothing to be ashamed of, it's all perfectly normal. Ours is a simple hobby and relatively inexpensive compared to some hobbies. It is a bit of fun in this crazy world. Enjoy!

I have been at this for some time now and I still enjoy taking my razors out of their cases and admiring the workmanship and engineering. Cheap thrill, but very satisfying.
