Thinking of buying a new brush

my brain goes "thonk"
I been thinking of buying a new brush of a badger/boar mix. These are some I lokked at. Vulfix 2006, Vulfix Grosvenor, Omega 11047. Suggestions are wellcome.

Never tried a mixed brush. For some reason I'm very turned off by the idea.

I guess my take on it is that the Jack of all trades, tends to be the Ace in neither.

I like boar and badger for their different traits and what they each bring to the table. That being said, I can't see the benefit of a mixed knot.

If you buy the RIGHT brush in either hair, you should not have a problem.

EDIT: What are you looking for in a brush exactly? Maybe we can help you better make a selection if we know exactly what you want out of it.

I wanted the boar bristles to raise the wiskers and the badger for lathering. Somtimes I use my hair brush to raise wiskers before I shave. I know this can't be good.

I have a Vulfix 404 Grosvenor and highly recommend it. It's the only mixed badger/boar I've tried.

It is a little prickly due to the pure badger hairs, but not uncomfortable in any way, for me atleast. YMMV The handle alone is well worth the cost, but only if you get it from Diamond Edge Ltd. as their price with shipping is still about $10 cheaper then anywheres else I've found. Hard soaps and sticks fear this brush when they see it coming!

Vulfix Grosvenor is a great brush. It will be quite prickly until the brush breaks in some. Even when it breaks in you're going to get some scritch from the pure badger hairs.

Maybe this comes from not having a beard, but I can't imagine my boars (omega 49, SOC) "lifting" any whiskers, since the tips are so soft.

The Vulfix 404 would be my choice. Vulfix makes a great brush that won't break the bank. :thumbup1:

Happy to see all these positive post about the Vulfix 404 mixed as I have one arriving any day now.

Vulfix 333 is a great brush. Lee's Razors sells them. I'm a pilot, but don't bring the 333 with me on trips. I'm always amazed at how good the 333 feels when I get home and use it.

Vie-Long makes some great badger/boar mixes.

Actually it's Horse/Badger, unless you get the Pro Series which has a Horse/Boar. The Beehive Horse/Badger LE from BullGoose, made by Vie-Long is quite nice, it exfoliates well and has a moderate scritch.
