Thin coat of mold on razor handle

I own a amboyna burl handled razor and it seems to develop a fine layer of white mold after a few days of being in the cabinet. I have made sure that I dry it very thoroughly after its use and I don't use it often but the stuff still shows up!!! Is this normal and if so should not keep it in the medicine cabinet? Thanks.

Its not soap scum or minerals as I ensure that it is entirely cleaned and dried of after its use. I have gone back a few hours later after the razor has dried off and there is no sign of any residue.

Does it look in any way furry? If so, it's definately mold.

I have a hard time imagining mold growing on clean metal though.. I guess take something else stainless or chromed, that hasn't been through the same conditions and put it in the same place and see if the same things happens.. ?

Many wood finishes will generate a white film as a result of exposure to moisture. Could it be this?

Sorry. I completely forgot burl can mean the real thing, not just a pattern

I'd guess you have mold elsewhere that is causing that. Maybe it's confined to the medicine cabinet, maybe it's in the whole room, maybe it's in the walls, hope not!

You could find out by storing it somewhere else and see if it still happens.
