The superiority of lapping films.

As children, we all learned the pecking order of honing hierarchy:

Right there: you can clearly see a simple sheet of 3um lapping films beating rock (looks like some form of nagura, probably cost $300), and also illustrated is the fact that after ordering your 11x13" sheets of lapping film from thorlabs, you will need to cut it with a pair of scissors.

Sorry, rock rubbers, that's just the way it has always been....

Just when I had the feeling that the ratio of Jnat threads to Lapping Film threads (usually 33:1?) was getting out of whack again... Seraphim to the rescue.

By this logic the film will be destroyed by the razor and the rock beats the razor into sharpness.

Last time I checked I was using the rock on the razor not on the film.

I agree rubbing the rock on the film might cause the rock to lose, but rubbing the rock on the razor the rock wins.
