The second day burn

I don't get "real" Razor burn like after I Shave. When I complete my shave it is fine and smooth. But heres the thing, I shave every other day, So the second day when i don't shave I get what I call "the second day burn" and what i believe it may be is the hairs pushing back through the skin as it regrows to the surface, and it causes big blotches of very red and painful bumps, but i don't need to shave everyday because the majority of my re-growth is on the second night, not morning. So how can i solve this 24 hour afterburn?

Sometimes i use Gillette sensitive skin Aftershave gel. But not after every shave, And the shaves I do or do not use it doesn't make a difference with the next day bumps and burns, there always about the same regardless.

Make sure to take the time to map your hair growth patterns, particularly on the neck. I had similar problems until I did this and realized my neck hair grew in different directions, so while I thought I was shaving WTG I was actually shaving ATG and this was causing my next day bumps/burn.

Nothing helped for me like going to an every day shave schedule. Counterintuitively, it gives me less irritation to shave more often.
