What's new

The only plentiful reasonably priced ammo .

I bought redding dies and a rock chucker kit. I have no choice but to roll my own 30 blackout and 223. Weird huh? Luckily I have as much powder as I do shaving soap, which is A LOT>

Theres plenty of .40, and semi reasonable at $20 for 50 of PMC! I've stocked up a little, 150 rds. plus about 30 HP's loaded at home.

2 days ago at the store, the guy told me they havent had 9mm in stock for 3 weeks. .22 not much better. And I'm considering gun purchases in both calibers, but whats the point if theres nothing to shoot in it?

You're right Mike, it is insane.

Prediction:

Although somewhat higher in price, the common calibers of ammunition will be pretty much available by mid to late April. Seems the major manufacturers are working on huge government ammunition contracts for the military and other govt. agencies (i.e.-remember the story about the gazillion rounds Homeland Security bought?). A lot of product to be sold domestically will be manufactured offshore and available in the near future.

Another point...the fear, trepidation, and angst which has hovered like a grim cloud over the past few months will pass, always does. The munitions hoarders will finally achieve their peak inventory and back off the panic purchases. A source at S&W advises these guys are working 24/7 to crank out product. Great for them and the local economy. Eventually though, the consumer will have purchased every and all the firearms they deem necessary and things will revert back to a state of normalcy.

So it is spoken........................................

I think thats a wise assessment, and I agree with you. But I dont believe the timeframe will be that soon. I think this will continue for as long as the political climate continues as it is; while new laws and regs are being proposed and enacted. Especially in states like mine where outrageous proposals are on the table. Until the next big crisis/issue appears in this country to distract everyone from gun control, as it always does with every big political issue, this will be the norm. But as time does go by and this climate continues, many of your predictions will likely come true in small degrees, lightening things up for the rest of us.

BTW, I've got a line on 4 bricks of .22lr I've got to investigate ASAP :biggrin1:

Hope your right. Facing 2/3 box limits where I go, I've been hoarding 9 and 45 for a while and I just noticed I'm low on .22.

An industry friend advises that most ammo prices are going up 15% this spring. I'm planning my reloading setup purchase now.

I've always wanted a .30-30, now may be the time to get one. No shortage at all in that caliber, nor .243, .22WMR., .380, or .38 Special. Each has its place. The current backorder will resolve however, the incentive to do so is huge.
