The old-school way of securing microfasteners

Microfasteners, some hate 'em, some don't.
I like 'em!

Anyway, there might be a slight chance that they do unscrew & become loose after a while.
Of course you can then just tighten them again.

But if you don't want that there is always Loc-Tite or the smallest drop of super-glue.

Or...the old school solution.

Take a piece of beeswax or a beeswax candle and rub it against the threads of the protruding fastener before putting on the nut.
Screw the nut on, tighten & file/saw/bite the remaining threaded rod off.

Now take a small screwdriver & heat the tipe with a gas-flame.
When hot, press it against the nut for a few seconds.
The wax melts and gently secures everything. Will hold up for 100 years if necessary.
If you ever want to unscrew, just apply heat & the wax releases its grip.

That sounds like a handy tip! Certainly sounds like it will be neater than my last attempt with super glue!

Great that you find it useful.

Re: the heat, a small soldering iron works very well, but some caution is always preferred when dealing with heat & straight scales.
Not only can you scar the scales, if they are celluloid, they can start to burn almost instantly

So, just be careful & you should be allright.
