The Most "Sophisticated" Soap You've Ever Experienced?

Antique Hoosier

“Aircooled”
My first use ever this morning of the Martin de Candre Fougere gets my First Place Vote. Followed closely by Czech & Speake Oxford & Cambridge. How about you???

"Sophisticated" soaps would describe the scent or performance?

MdC has a very nice scent and performance to back it up. Penhaligons English Fern comes to mind as a very peculiar and refined scent. I think Tabac can also be considered "sophisticated" in a way.

To me, the word "sophisticated" is mainly about image. In that sense, it's like the word "luxury". Of course, it does have to be a high quality soap.

That said, Castle Forbes cream comes to mind..

Funny, I have always thought of Tabac as more of a working man's soap. Simple and utilitarian, though a top performer.

Sort of like this being Penhaligons English Fern

And, this being Tabac

Both desirable and impressive, but for different reasons.

Edit: In hindsight, since I was comparing an English soap and a German one, it may have made more sense to use a picture of a Jaguar vs a VW Beetle or something...

Oxford & Cambridge is hard to beat....... performance, scent, the image conjured up by the name itself.

AdP it has an amazing scent, fantastic packaging and fortunately makes tons of lather with a little product since it's price is crazy.

Dang, I can't even pronounce most the names of most of these soaps, let alone tried them.

I guess I'm a blue collar latherer.

Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet.

+1

Whenever I see Penhaligon's I always think of sophistication and luxury without excess. I've never used it, but it would like to imagine that Prince William on the morning of his wedding day, grabbed his Aristocrat #22, lathered up his Pens BB (tallow) soap with his Kent BK12, then went to town with a superb 3 pass BBS and finished with Pens BB ASB before applying a dash of Pens BB EDT... job done!

(In reality he probably uses something like a Fusion ProGlide and canned goo?)
