I'm thinking about jumping at the deep end with the 1.8 gap and I was wondering if anyone owns at least the 1.6 gap version to shed some light on how it performs.

New French Razor: Le Maurice
Bought a new razor head from a French Artisan. I didn't purchase the full razor, just the head. Mounted it on top of a Copper Bandit Handle from Alpha. The razor is a dual comb, milled from 316L stainless steel. Gap is 1.2mm. The razor is available in sandblasted finish or polished, but I...www.badgerandblade.com

Le Maurice new version
I create this post to tell you more about the Le Maurice razor. This is a DE type razor that has been designed to provide optimum smoothness with a wide range of possible customization choices. The proposed GAPs are 0.8-1.0-1.2-1.4 and 1.6. The blade exposure is +0.05 mm on all GAPs, which...www.badgerandblade.com
Why the 1.8 gap? That seems super big and nearing straight-razor territory. At some point, it is no longer a 'safety razor'!
That's because the blade exposure is quite small (+0.05mm) and most people report that the smaller gaps from 1.0 to 1.4 are quite on the mild side and I prefer something with high efficiency and I'm either going for the 1.6 or the 1.8 gap.
Probably II is the closestI have seen some of your pics that feature the Rocnel Sailor.
What Sailor #setting does 1.0 on Le Maurice equate to?
I have the machined steel version, the teeth are smooth and zero problemsLe Maurice 2.0 Open Comb arrived. The teeth kind of feel rough like they weren't rounded off at the edges. Hope it's smoother on my face than rubbing against my fingers.

At 185€ plus another 45€ for shipping, I'm a bit curious about the attraction to this razor other than some huge gap options. I used a Guerrilla 0.84mm and 0.99mm aluminum razor and really liked it a lot.Le Maurice 2.0 Open Comb arrived. The teeth kind of feel rough like they weren't rounded off at the edges. I'll try the Le Maurice tomorrow and see how that goes. The only other 2.00 gap razor I own is the Wolfman WR2, and that's still pretty mild for such a large gap. That's also an open comb so it will make a great head to head comparison. I guess I'll do one side with the WR2 and the other side with the Le Maurice. At 185€ plus another 45€ for shipping, I'm a bit curious about the attraction to this razor other than some huge gap options. If you see in the comparison pic you can kind of see what I'm talking about. The teeth on the WR2 (or even WR1 for that matter) feel smoother and more refined. The teeth on the Le Maurice reminds me of the Razorock Jaws.I have the machined steel version, the teeth are smooth and zero problems
yes in terms of width yes, but no scratchy sensation when shavingIf you see in the comparison pic you can kind of see what I'm talking about. The teeth on the WR2 (or even WR1 for that matter) feel smoother and more refined. The teeth on the Le Maurice reminds me of the Razorock Jaws.
More effective WR2...Le Maurice very smoothI guess I'll do one side with the WR2 and the other side with the Le Maurice.
