BOTH! You've got a right and a left side on yer face, don'cha???
MWF was my first, actually. I got some as a sample with my first straight razor. I'm vegan, but... just like I didn't throw out my old leather belts and shoes when I stopped eating animals, I didn't throw out the MWF. I didn't even know it was SUPPOSED to be a pain to lather. It was, a little bit. But so have other soaps been. A little bit. Very good shaves with that stuff.
Same here. First time using it myself. Very nice. Mantic59's video on lathering MWF recommends using a stiffer brush. I don't know which of the two is stiffer. In any case, his video is worth watching if you ever have trouble working up a lather.
You're gonna love the fat. Go with the chubby and load like half of the puck on that bad boy and go to town. It's going to be like having a pillow fight with yourself.
This soap is truly outstanding. It did take me a while to lather, but I will assume that there is a learning curve here. Its scent is absolutely wonderful and I had an extremely close shave. My face was very smooth afterwards. I expected my skin to be left more moist, owing to the lanolin, but it was by no means dried out.
The first time I used the Chubby 1 in Super and face lathered. The second time I used The Hive in Manchurian and bowl lathered. I followed Mantic's instructions with warm and not hot water, so the lather was cool and not warm.
I did experience some post-shave irritation (not much) each time I used MWF. My face appeared normal for the most part, but more than anything else I had a faint burning sensation for about an hour after shaving. After one shave, I used Weleda Balm and after another shave, I used GFT Coral Skin Food. The Skin Food seemed to calm down the burning only slightly, while the Weleda may have aggravated it.
I did use Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap prior to shaving each time. I plan to omit it the next time I use MWF.
Perhaps the lather was too runny. Perhaps I should have used hot water. Perhaps a different after shave product is in order.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might improve the outcome with this wonderful soap?
I used MWF today for the third time and the result was perfect. Here is the complete picture from today:
-I used my Vulfix 2235 in Super;
-I bowl lathered with hot water;
-The lather was more copious and more substantial than when I had lathered with warm water;
-I was able to omit aftershave altogether.
I had been worried that I wouldn't be able to use this fine soap!
