The Bruery Windowsill Beer

There are plenty of gimmicky craft beers hitting store shelves these days, and sadly, not very many of them live up to their unique descriptions. Windowsill ($20) from The Bruery however, is one of the rare exceptions. The idea hit KCRW's Good Food host Evan Klieman after enjoying a homemade Rhubarb Raspberry Pie, and a collaboration was born. Specialty grains were chosen to mimic the crust, and rhubarb and raspberries were used during stages of the brewing process. It has a tart fruit taste, a bit of pie crust malt, and a delicately masked 10.5% ABV.

I haven't tried this yet, but I like The Bruery. Rugbrod, Autumn Maple and Tart of Darkness are all terrific. I bet it's good. That having been said, $20 is a lot for a beer. I wish they would price their brews more like Jolly Pumpkin.

I'll have to give it a try

Nid - seeing as how most of the Jolly Pumpkin brews are session beers, and only one or 2 break the 8% range, I can see how theirs would be cheaper. This is 750mL of a 10.5% beer. Thats an expensive beer to make, and its probably a seasonal thing (smaller batches). Small batch wines will run you a LOT more than $20.

I know big craft beers are for the experience and sharing but they get into the very sometimes price range. All logic goes out of my head when I'm at the beer store though.

Granted $20 can get me a growler of something great.
