Wow, the .950JDJ is based off the old 20x102mm cannon/gatling round. For a bit of perspective, the .50BMG shell casing is similar in length but the case diameter is downright puny compared to the 20mm. If you do a bit of research you will quickly realise the .50BMG is essentially a scaled up .30-06. Well, really scaled up but the overall shape and ratio of head diameter, case to shoulder length, etc are very much the same as the old '06. The head diameter of the .06 is .473(same as the old Mauser rounds it emulated), the .50BMG is about .804 or roughly ..075 larger than the bore diameter of a 12 gauge shotshell which is if memory serves .729. The head diameter of the 20x102 looks to me to be somewhere around 1.125 inches. ONE AND ONE EIGHTH INCHES in diameter. Look at the photo below to compare the 20mm to the .50BMG. I grabbed that photo from Wikipedia but they had no dimensions for the case.

I immediately thought to myself; How does JDJ Industries get away with a .95 calibre shoulder fired weapon? Aren't these sorts of things classified as destructive devices under the 1934 Firearms Act? The wiki for the .950JDJ tells the story. ATF granted an exception. And I think you needn't worry about seeing one any time soon. They cost umpteen thousand dollars and weigh over 100 pounds(45Kg)! And generate something like 200 foot pounds of free recoil. Shoulder ripper supreme. For comparison the mighty .460 Weatherby magnum generates something like 100 pounds of recoil in a ten pound rifle. I suspect the military fully endorses these sorts of ventures since it gives them valuable test information. Long range sniping and light vehicle destruction is an obvious application. Man, do not tick off the spec ops units!

That photograph at the bottom of your post is a Mk 19, essentially a 40mm grenade launcher machine gun. They're for when you absolutely must shoot grenades something like a half mile at 300 rounds per minutes.

it was me, like a year or two ago. my friend is the gun guru. ive shot 3 glocks, 1 .44 , aug, kriss, bmg, ar-15, thompson, there is another new one, cant think of the name. it IS classified as a pistol, but it has a forward grip. (like the aug) and MAAAAAAN is that thing LOUD!!! a sling go's around the should too i think/.

I'm pretty sure you guys know that the biggest machine gun you can legally own in the US is 40mm. The bofors 40mm is probably the most well known, but they do make a 57mm version that packs a little bit more of a punch. Here's a test vid of that model.
