What's new

The best thing I can say is that it was free

Boy...Dem Merkur Blades.

I bought a Merkur Progress to get customized, and of course it came with a new Merkur Blade. So free being free, i tried it out. I loaded it in a blue star Lady gillette and shaved with twice using Col. Conks lime and then another day with Tabac.

Both times i felt the blade pulling as though it was used for 2 week straight. not a good time ( good thing for Razor Rock) I figured i would try to shave my head, a job reserved my mach 3/headblade. Oddly enough, it didnt do a bad job.

So i know what i be using those merkurs that come in the sampler packets

Yeah, I hear you on Merkurs. They pulled like hell for me too. I hear people call them sharp, but I found Derby's :thumbup1: in the beginning and they felt much sharper to me. Then I found Feathers .

I know YMMV, but I still don't know how people shave with, and like, Merkur blades.

Merukr DE FTL

The only thing Merkur blades are good for is cutting your face up for a Halloween costume. I have tried several from several different packages and never even got two passes in before I was covered in weepers. Derbys were not much better for me though.

So far, this is my first example of YMMV.

I have tried about a half dozen different blades so far, and Merkurs are near the top of my list. It's nowhere near as sharp as a Feather, but it's a lot more forgiving. A Merkur will give me at least as comfortable a shave as the Israeli Personna Reds or the Astra Super Platinums.

It seems you can find a few B&B people who like any product (even Williams!), but I haven't seen anybody else give the Merkur blades a thumbs up.

Now, I just need to figure out why the prices are so high, since I seem to be the only one that likes them!

Everyone hates Merkur's cause they're the first blade most people try - they blame their own bad technique on the blade and never give them a second chance.

I have given them a try no less than three different times. When I got my first razor, when I got my slant (3 months in), and once about a month ago (9 months in) and never had any better experience with them than that first bloody time.
