Terre d'Hermes Parfum

It seems all of my fragrances are either cologne or EDT. I was looking at Terre d'Hermes and noticed that it also comes as a parfum. Has anybody used both the Terre d'Hermes EDT and Parfum? Is there much of a difference? Which do you prefer and why?

Yes ! TERRE D'HERMES extrait or Parfum is richer in perfume and t4 stronger than EdT.But the smell is the same. You also have POUR UN HOMME de Caron in Parfum or Extrait ( IMPACT) and also Guerlain's HABIT ROUGE. They are all fantastic

I just recently sampled the EDT and fell in love. If the Parfum is even stronger I think I'll have to buy a bottle...

I have used both and the parfum does seem to last a little longer. I do like the EDT, but the difference is that the Parfum is smoother and not as sharp as the edt and it does seem to last longer.(Two sprays max for Me) That is not to say that the edt is not excellent in longevity, it is. In all, it is a fantastic fragrance, both are bottle worthy, I chose the Parfum as it was worth the extra $$. I purchased mine from fragrencenet for around $85 with a coupon.

From what I am hearing, even though the parfum costs slightly more for 2.5 0z vs. 3.4 oz EDT, it may be cheaper in the long run as much less of the parfum is needed for the same effect.

I hate you! I hate you all! Just when I think I might have a handle on this AD folks come up with some other set of items I simply must possess! :biggrin1: :mad3:

It was suggested that given my "windy" head-to-head comparison of Montale Red Vetyver and Terre d'Hermes edt/parfum, that I also take a shot at comparing the TdH edt versus the parfum head-to-head, but I see we already have a thread devoted to that comparison! One I posted in before I obtained any of the parfum.

I think barneyb basically nails it: "I do like the EDT, but the difference is that the Parfum is smoother and not as sharp as the edt and it does seem to last longer."

Parfum on one wrist and edt on the other, the edt seems to start much sharper and less sweet, and to clearly evolve through dry down, where to me it remains perhaps more woody and less sweet than the parfum. No doubt that the parfum is stronge and has more tenacity. Same basic scent though. Both are very nice, although I think I prefer the edt, for being less sweet (seems like a strong patchouli note to me, but I do not think that Hermes lists patchouli as a note in this frag) and sort of having more to it with the sharper opening and what seems like a more predominence of wood, at least to me.

I have a decant of the parfum, and in fact at one point I was afraid that there was a male and female version of TdH, and I had ended up with the female version of the parfum. But Hermes seems to make only one line of TdH and in fact seems to market it as masculine, not unisex.

I think it is said that eau de perfume and perfume (supposedly more intense; this is sold as a "pure perfume," but it does not strike me as nearly as strong as a woman's perfume such as Joy woudl be) versions of scents emphasize the middle notes of the scent for some reason. That makes sense to me in this case and others. And in fact, I can think of two other instance where I have preferred the EDC or EDT version of a scent over the eau de perfume version--Boucheron and Jaipur. Boucheron I am foggier about, but I remember buying a big bottle of the edp version of Jaipur because I was really liking that scent in the edt version, and when I got it, it seemed much sweeter and heavier than the edt version, and just not as attractive to me as the edt that I had been using!

I like the parfum version of TdH better than that. In fact, I would say for big fans of the scent it is worthwhile having both parfum and edt. I think the pafum manages to pull off a masculine scent that it quite sweet, which is interesting and might be just the thing for certain settings or moods. No doubt TdH is a great scent in either form!

WOW:thumbup::thumbup:As always, great review.Congrats:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I can't imagine anything more concentrated than the EdT. TdH is the only cologne I use that is one spray max and lasts all day. Sometimes I find that is even more than enough.

I've never used the EdT but the parfum is great stuff and I will definitely buy it again. It is strong but mellows out quickly, and once it hits the mellowed state it really lingers for a long time. Really top notch stuff.

I ended up choosing the parfum over the EdT. I love the scent and find it is one of the longer lasting of the scents I routinely wear. If I had to pick one scent and make it my signature scent, I could see this being the one. It is versatile enough for daytime and evening wear and can be worn year round. The only other scent that I find as versatile is GIT, but I find the TdH "sexier". Highly recommended.

+1

I can't even spray the EdT anywhere near my neck as the scent becomes completely overwhelming.

I stuck it out with this scent though because I really do love it alot. Playing around with spraying it on different areas of my body really helped me learn the best way to use it for me. Now I just use 1 spray to my forarm, rub that into the other forarm and then rub both arms into my chest. The scent is still pounding for a good 2 hours but it's far enough away from my nose that it doesn't overwhelm me. After 2 hours the scent mellows enough to be easily noticeable and remains that way for at least 4 hours. The scent continues fading lightly for another 2+ hours providing faint pleasant whiffs well into the evening. Amazing stuff!

I would say that the parfum has a less agressive opening than the edt. I kind of like the opening jolt from the edt. I do not perceive it to carry on for as long as two hours though. If the middle notes of TdH are really what you are looking for, and the opening power offputting to you, the parfume may well, counterintuitively, be what you are looking for! Like I say, it is kind of counterintuitive.
