I'm a Tabac and Speick AS guy. I hear about Floid quite a bit, so I'm looking for opinions on Floid AS. Is it like Tabac or very different? What is the scent like? How long lasting, etc.?
The only Floid i have experience with is the Blue. It's a lot more powdery and delicate than the other two (which I have smelled but do not own..... yet!).
I've only tried the Blue and have never tried the two you use but the best way for me to describe it is to compare it to a lighter scented Aqua Velva original.
I'm sure others might disagree but this is my opinion.
I don't know how to describe the scents of the Vigoroso or the Original Amber but I love them both. The Vigoroso is sort of a powdery citrus scent that is very light. I can say if you try them and don't like them they will sell immediately on the BST.
You'll undoubtedly get some responses in this thread, but you can find out a whole lot more if you just do a search on "Floid". You'll find lots, and lots of threads and therefore lots and lots of info on Floid. Here is just a small sample.
I have the Tabac Aftershave, as well as the Italian Floid Blue and Floid The Genuine (Amber). All 3 are different and good in there own way. Tabac is peppery. Floid Blue is cool and refreshing. Floid The Genuine is sweet. That is the best I can do describing them.
Well I would like to tell you to forget about trying it...but
FWIW, I own and LOVE Speicks, recently tested Tabac at a local shop and definetley plan to add to my rotation. A few in my den are Floid's, in Blue, Amber and Viguroso, Proraso Original, TOBS St. James, Pitralon (Checz.) and the mighty Osage Rub, as well as the new RR Baby Blue. All are in the "Classic" Barber shop scent IMHO. Floid Blue is definitley my favorite. It is more woodsy/musky than the other Floids and finishes w/ a light powdery scent and also has an easy menthol kick. If you decide to purchase and did not like it, you could easily sell on the BST. Again if you like Tabac and Speick, then the Blue is the choice over the other Floid scents IMHO. ( the Amber and Vgiuroso are really good but opposite of Speicks)If you decide to spluge get the atomizer, you will have less waste..more on the face.
I just received a sample of Floid Vigaroso from Garry's Sample Shop. I am so happy that I sampled before buying an entire body. My girlfriend wouldn't even come near me after I splashed it on. I didn't care for it at all, either. I washed my face/hands after having her give it a sniff. Never again
I have Floïd Vigoroso in a 400ml bottle and it is one of my favorite after shaves.
It has a orange-powder scent (very classic), a fair amount of alcohol but also a fair amount of menthol.
This AS really cools and reduces itches and burn should you have it. Strongly recommended if you love "barbershop scents".
If you like modern scents and hate the classic scents then skip it.
