Tallow Rose Soaps?

The only current production I can think of is Prairie Creations which I still haven't tried. Her soaps get good reviews though.

Do you think it actually even smells like #88 though? I love the cologne, but man, this soap smells weird. It's sort of #88esque, lol.

Well, it's reminiscent of #88 in kind of a muted way. I actually like the smell of the soap. But yeah, based on the soap alone you'd never know the true scent of #88 if you didn't have the cologne to contrast it with.

I didn't know that #88 was tallow based. I love the colonge.

It is a good soap overall, performance-wise, but they suffer from what I call Penhaligon's Complex - ridiculously high pricing for an above average product. Don't get me wrong, if this was the very best soap there was, the price wouldn't be too high, but since it doesn't really smell like #88 (it isn't bad, just...weird) and is simply a nice tallow based soap on par with DR Harris (IMO) at twice the price ($36/100gm refill from Cambridge Chemists), it gives me pause for ever restocking it.

well....i thought i'd try the prairie creations one, but when i went to buy it on the bay it said that my ebay account was not linked to a paypal acount (which isn't true).
guess they just don't want to sell it that badly.

Try her website. If problem persists give her a call.

I am just finishing up my mini puck from the B&B group buy and that sums up where I am at with this soap as well.

That is a good assessment of the soap. Shaves great though.

If you can find a old stock Trumpers Rose, it is an excellent rose scent, and is nice and tallowy.

Many say the new formulation Trumpers performs pretty similarly, but I have not made that comparrison myself.

When i purchased from Cambridge Chemist, I let them know I was a B&B member, and they gave me a 10% discount, and free shipping.

Still a bit on the pricey side, but I think it is worth it due to the very unique scent.

I'm interested in finding out what the cologne smells like now, based on your comments....

I had thought of that, but can't find any of the old stock.

I would be willing to pay the price. But if so, I'd also like to get the black glass container they mention.
Anyone know where that might be purchased?

Yeah, i forgot about the B&B discount from them. When I ordered my #88 stuff, I ordered directly from C&S in the UK, I did the math, and for a 200ml bottle of cologne and a puck of soap, it came out to be about $20 less than from CC, discount included. I'd definitely go with CC in the future for other non-C&S items though.

Oh, and you can get the black dish from C&S, but it is insanely stupidly priced.

Only place I've seen it available is direct from Czech & Speake and then it was only with the set.

It is insanely priced indeed. But not only that, the size is wrong. It's meant to fit the 25g travel-size puck, not the regularly-sized one. Which is probably a good thing. If the regular puck is 90g (almost 3x the size of the travel one) then what would they charge for a comparably-sized black dish!? :scared:
