When is talc generally used during a shave? Does it have any specific purpose or is it just to smell good?

To be honest I've never used it and don't see the interest in it unless you fancy going for that pasty faced gothic look.
Used to use it on my daughter when she was a baby but she doesn't shave so it doesn't count.
It does smell nice but a little too kitch for my liking.

Once the aftershave has been applied to the patron, fan, blot, mitt followed by wrapping towel around the hand then you dowse some on towel and apply it WTG on the patron's face.
