Synthetic vs. natural bristles

I'm curious and I'm sure someone here knows, but is the knot cavity in brush handles the same for brushes with synthetic bristles as for brushes with natural ones?

Some synthetic knots come with a cup or fitting depending on their manufacturer. Then again, some boars and badgers have knot cups as well...

How do you mean? I'm not sure I completely understand your question.

Is the hole where the knot goes the same size (generally) for a brush made with synthetic bristles as a brush made with natural bristles? Or better yet...is it a problem to put a badger knot in a brush made with synthetic bristles?

A few gents here have reknotted WWII-era nylon brushes with badger hair. From what I hear the only hard part is getting the old nylon out.

I beleive the knot bed should be customized carefully for whatever knot you're putting in. But the process is the same I think. I don't see any reason why you couldn't put a badger knot into a brush that came with a synthetic one. The real question is when are you going to post pictures?

LOL I haven't got one yet. I saw a neat looking brush on the bay with synthetic bristles but didn't want to attempt it if there was a notorious incompatibility...I'm still a beginner LOL

Well that's understandable then. I was about to break into your house and take pictures myself.
