Swiss Army Knives

Does anyone else enjoy having a Swiss Army Knife on them? I carry this in a pouch on my belt every so often. It is a Victorinox XAVT.

That thing would confuse my poor brain beyond the point of recovery. :biggrin1:

Looks cool, though.

As for me, occasionally a pocket tool, but not a SAK.

I have a swis army knife less that half that size. I have honestly never seen anything like that before. Does it have a small microwave in it?

i could never do it...it's way too big and appears to be too gimmicky with the clock.

i carry a SA Soldier every so often and has everything i need:

when i camp and need a few more things, i carry a Leatherman Skeletool:

I feel Swiss Army knives are dangerous as the blades do not lock open so the risk of cut fingers is too high. I had one as a teenager and the blade came back on my fingers once causing me bad cuts, and that's the last time I used one.

I've gotten out of the habit of carrying a knife around with me now as it's not worth the hassle if you get stopped with the strict UK knife laws. I've got quite skilled at opening parcels with car keys now!

I carry a few different ones, nothing that extravagant!

They do make a few now that lock, but I agree that is a fault in my opinion.

Sharp blades right out the box

A few months ago I found the SAK my Dad gave me when I was 13.
It's now my EDC knife. It's just the good old regular Spartan.
It's a little beat up but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I have three that I rotate. A Victorinox Soldier's knife (the big current standard issue one), a Wenger Standard Issue (the previous standard issue; I would've preferred the Victorinox version, but the store only carried Wenger), and a Victorinox Spartan.

I would like the latest soldier with the bigger blade and the locking back but I wonder if it's not too big.

I don't find it too big. It's bigger than anything else I've ever carried, but you easily forget that it's in your pocket.

I've had one of these confiscated by the TSA at least 3 or 4 times - the Minichamp.
Clockwise from the key ring: Bottle Opener/Phillips Head, Scissors, Knife, Pen and Toothpick, Wire Stripper, Knife, Pharma Spoon (that's what they call it!), Flathead Screwdriver/Rule, Nail File, Tweezers (on reverse side).
A very handy and easily carried multi-tool!
