Sweet Spot

As the title suggests I believe I have found the sweet spot on my current shave. It consists of;
Merkur 34HD
Gillette 7o'clock yellow
Edwin Jagger Medium BB
MWF or Tabac Soap
Nivea Sensitive Balm
2 passes + touch ups

Second time with this combo today and finished with Old Spice (bought by by dad). OS was a great checker of technique. I had all over 'warmth' but no sting to speak of. This was shave 3 with the blade and I'm thinking the final one.

It's a good feeling to be at this point after being a DE man for 3 months.

Finished my hair with a slick of Brylcreem and headed off smelling like yesteryear :laugh:

On the subject of yesteryear and my use of OS... the Mrs didn't complain at the smell, which surprises me as at the initial splash I will admit I felt a little self conscious.

I'm comfortably rocking the OS now!

Congrats mate! It is a good feeling when everything comes together. Have you tried adding a splash of witch hazel between your cold rinse and applying your ASB? To me, that looks like the only thing that could possibly improve your routine.

I've been using this exact setup all week and came to the same conclusion! I wasn't expecting a good result with the 7 O'Clock (bad first experience), but was amazed at how smooth the shaves where.

Well... I did indeed change the blade for a Feather today, which on my initial try last week I found to be a little harsh. Today achieved a great shave with Tabac, 2 passes and a splash of OS... no sting and 2 small weepers in the usual neck area which troubles me.

I think the thing that has improved for me is technique.

I am a happy man. Oh yes... and the OS is still getting great feedback from SWMBO ... smells manly apparently :wink2:

Thanks for the tip... I plan on getting an alum block to see how that works for me, witch hazel seems difficult to obtain around here.
