Superlather, What is it?

Mantic has a video on it.

Usually it's when you mix shaving cream with shaving soap to build some lather. You will get something extra out of it! My favorite, Proraso white soap with Proraso Green cream!

One answer is when one loads some shaving soap onto the brush and then adds some cream.

I superlather most days now, as my favorite soap is AOS Unscented. I add a bit of TGQ or Nancy Boy cream to make things smell nice and to use up those creams I might otherwise never finish.

If you have a soap that has some decent attributes as a base, such as Williams but is missing some moisterizing components like glycerine or other essential oils, you can mix a very small amount of creme in with your soap and the result is a near top-tier soap/creme lather. My favorite is to put a very small amount (pea sized) of Tom's Maine Mint on top of a puck of Williams. Major rich lather and scent that you would not expect from Williams. Since Williams has tallow as a base, you get very nice performance.

Huge superlather fan here.

Many use superlather as a way to bring out the best in a cream or soap that may be lacking somehow.

But IMO the best superlather comes from soaps and creams that are of excellent quality alone. When mixed together, the sum of the already-wonderful parts can be really extraordinary.

You've got to love the superlather. I mix a little of the local artisen soap with some Bigelow cream and just love it. It's the only way to fly.

Tried super lathering some TOBS and the cheap wal mart soap puck, and it actually made the tobs worse. 2nd pass I used tobs only and it was much better. 3rd pass same deal but I needed to add a little water, it got a little clumpy. Still learning I guess! Next super lather concoction will be tobs and proraso green, then when my tabac soap, Col Conk bay rum, and Proraso white comes this week I'll be like a mad scientist. Fun fun :).
