Super Speed - fair price

Hey guys,

I am selling a Super Speed in excellent condition, but so far haven't had any takers. What do you think is a fair price for it?

Kinda depends. Superspeeds are plentiful, so they usually don't garner that much cash. If it's a flare-tip model from the 50s and it is used but in really good shape, people will probably be willing to pay between 13 and 17 bucks, maybe a little more if it's really pristine.

+1
Bought mine for circa 13 dollar w/o shipping recently.

My experience a couple of months ago on eBay, not really knowing what I should be paying. Got a plastic handled V4 in excellent condition for $14.94, a L2 in very good condition with a case for $16.35, a B1 in pretty good condition for $13.45, and a 1948-50 in pretty good condition for $29.02. I now think I overpaid for the 1948-50 one, and probably could have done a little better on the others if I'd found equivalents on B/S/T, but that was just a bit before I joined here.

Just FWIW. The prices on a lot of items are still a mystery to me.

[Edit] I meant to mention that all those prices include shipping.

I picked up three 40's era super speeds in remarkable condition for about $12 total.
But that has reallly no bearing on "fair market value". Hey, I got a decent condition undated Super Speed for FREE on eBay (Seller incorrectly packed an Old Spice mug bought with it, and it was nothing but shards when I opened it, causing a slight puncture to my finger- Seller asked that I keep the razor plus accept refund for my troubles- I gladly obliged).
$15-$17 including shipping should get her sold.

This sounds reasonable for the BST, but again, it will depend on their vintage and condition. If selling on eBay, it is possible they may go higher- put a BIN on them slightly abouve what you'd expect, and add a "Best Offer" feature to the auction. But again, it will still depend MUCH on their vintage and condition. Sort of like me asking "What can I get for a used Chevy"? Not enough info for a proper answer.

ETA: Having searched your posts I found the ad. Several things come to mind. First, you're in the U.K., and the market there is somewhat different, with different dynamics than the USA. Both supply and demand are a bit altered, and values may be skewed somewhat too.

Second, the razor appears in excellent condition, and it's a Z2, which means the second quarter of the first year of production for the Flare Tips (1954). Since they were still producing the 40's style Super Speed at the same time, it stands to reason there may be somewhat fewer of these around (I have a Z3 and a Z2, not yet found a Z1).

Bottom line, it's worth whatever someone will pay you for it. Holidays being here, prices may (or may not) come down with lots of folks spending their disposable income on gifts. Then again, this would make a fine one of those to some.

Two of the three are undated. The third is a very pedestrian Y1.:blushing:
