Super-moisturizing cream search

My girlfriend got me some of Lush's Shave the Planet and it gives me a really wonderful shave - BUT i really miss using my brush and having a good lather.

Is there a cream/soap that is comparable with something so ridiculously moisturizing and smooth? I've never had my face feel like this and i don't even need any aftershave or balm.

Welcome to B&B!

I think the aftershave is part of the shave but the 3 best that I know in no particular order

MWF, GFT Coconut and Tabac.

And, YMMV!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm truly loving my move a safety razor and just now dialing in how i do it ;)

I can probably search the forums, but what are MWF, GFT and YMMV? :D

The aftershave must be part of it, since the instrutions are just to shave and then leave it - no rinse, no aftershave, no balm. And the incredible thing is that it works! I just miss the lather and the brush. Feels like cheating.

Sorry, have a look at the abbreviations

MWF = Mitchell's Wool Fat
GFT = Geo F Trumper
YMMV = Your mileage may vary

Creams: Kiss My Face, Musgo Real, Palmolive Refreshing Lemon, Nivea Extra Moisture.

Soaps: Mitchell's Wool Fat, Cella, L'Occitane, Institut Karité, Provence Santé, Pré de Provence.

If you've got a Rite Aid handy, The Real Shaving Company (TRSC) makes an inexpensive cream that performs well above its price point and is pretty moisturizing. (Disclaimer: I agree with Luc that, for me, an aftershave is typically a standard part of my shave; but, TRSC does a pretty good job of moisturizing on its own--oh, and their aftershave balm is pretty spiffy, too.)

Of the SC's I've tried so far (many mentioned on this thread), Institute Karite wins the moisturizing contest hands down. I don't particularly like the Shea Butter scent, but it's a YMMV thing. It lathers well even in hard water and leaves the skin very smooth.

I've never tried the IK soap, which is supposed to be better than the cream, but the cream works pretty well. You could also mix a small (and I do mean small) dollop of the cream with your favorite SC to pick up the Shea Butter properties of the IK.

For creams, the most moisturizing I've tried would be either The Gentlemen's Refinery or Taylor's Avocado. Taylor's Sensitive in the beige tub was quite good as well. I was also fairly impressed with the moisturizing properties of LEA.

Trumper's Coconut was pretty underwhelming to me. I found no difference in the quality of shave or moisturizing it gave versus the three other varieties of Trumper's I tried. I also find L'Occitane shaving soap slightly drying. Pre De Provence is the most moisturizing shave soap I've tried.
