Using only Merkur 38C HD Long Handle Barberpole. Thought of EJ 89L. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Might as well go for any number of old Gillettes. Maybe a bar handled NEW.
The Gillette NEW is an amazing razor and quite forgiving. It'll also be an open comb as opposed to safety bar.
I'd also go for a nice vintage Gillette. Maybe a 40s Superspeed or a Slim to start with.
All good suggestions, but what about a Schick Injector Type G or a Gem Clog Pruf? They are commonly available on the bay at low cost.

Vintage Gillette adjustable. Fatboy, Slim or Super adjustable.
How did you get along with the 38C?
Two words: Super Speed.
Virtually anything by Gillette after 1930. The pre-1930 (Old Type) is great for some but others find them too aggressive. One exception I can think of is the 1904 Gillette, or any of its modern day replicas.

Fatboy or red tip. leaning towards the adjustable. Love mine. I started with the Merkur 180 and sold it.
