Styptic variation

Not sure if anyone has ever thought of or done this before. But if you have a styptic pencil that has been used to the point where there isn't much of it left - or if you have a broken one with pieces that are too small to use - you can put those pieces in a small spray bottle with some water and shake until they completely dissolve. When you need some styptic, just give a quick spray with the bottle to the area. It works great and no rinsing pencils etc. You can cover a larger area like on your neck if you sometimes have a little rash like I do. Using styptic this way can save you a little bit of trouble and can put those broken pieces you might have otherwise tossed to good use. You of course need to be sure you add enough styptic to the bottle to give it an effective concentration. But generally it doesn't take much. If you find it to be too weak, drop in another piece and dissolve it.

Great idea. Do they make eye rollers that you can fill up? That might be better for more precise application.

Im sure if you looked hard enough you could find something. Maybe even repurpose one from some cosmetic. It would be more precise, but one think I like about this is that when you apply it there's no touching of the skin (blood) like a pencil or even a roller. So you never have to rinse anything. Small inconvenience to rinse something sure. But one thing you don't have to do with a spray.

Good idea that, I wonder if it would work for Alum blocks; they always shatter.

I've had one alum block for three years and through two moves. It hasn't broken yet, but it also only cost $1 at the Indian Grocery in town - so if it does break then it's not a very big deal.

But alum is available in a spray. :) so, I'm pretty sure that you could make your own.
