What's new

Stupid newb question

let it dry in a tube, or at least once you leave it to dry, squeeze the bristles in a little so it dries in that position

Transplant the hair back onto a badger . . . na . . . they have teeth and probably would not like it.

I bet they'd be glad to get that bald patch back after a few weeks of winter weather!

To the OP, I've put brushes in TP tubes and they've de-bloomed a bit. Just curious, why would you want it to go back?

The rubber band will crink the hair likely.

Carefully roll the damp brush in tissue paper tightly...that will likely bring it in a bit.

However I cannot see any good reason to do so.

I can think of a nefarious reason however.

That was my first thought. I doubt it's possible to make it look exactly like a brand new brush again.

Posts like these are really VERY disconcerting. Do people really attempt to return USED brushes?? (Yes, I am assuming the worst because he is so vague saying there is *no real reason* to try and ascertain this knowledge...hmmm). Wow this bums me out a little knowing people might be trying and might actually be successful at this. I wonder if this is an issue we should be more concerned with? Scary...

Let's not think the worst of people, but;

Many times when I shave I don't notice cuts until I've reapplied lather and the blood colors it. Brushes actually are disgusting to anyone but the owner, with all the blood, residue and dead skin cells buried in the bristles. Not to mention all the bacteria!

not to cast an aspersions on the OP, but thats one of the reasons I always check the posts of anyone I buy (or indeed sell) from. (eg, if I see questions on replating, I would be cautious in buying an excellent quality razor from them, unless I also saw a 'wow, what a score today' post)

there are not stupid questions. every question is a quest for knowledge. knowledge flows freely in this forum. ask and ye shall be answered.

+1 Agreed. But its what one wants to DO with that knowledge that dosconcerts me in this case. As noted above, checking creds always helps (posts and stuff) when buying from the B&B b/s/t but even an unsuspecting vendor might take a return if thats their policy that you might unknowingly get. Who's to stop someone from taking it for a test ride then "cleaning" it up?? As noted above that would be downright nasty.

When I got my first brush (VDH boar) I used to let it dry with a rubber band around mid-knot and it would go back to a semi pre bloom state. I am sure that is part of the reason the knot fell out after just a few months use. :blushing: A brush that does not show much bloom is an Omega Boar Professional.
