Strops?

I have just had my second ever straight razor shave, a much better experience than my first shave.......I stropped my razor on one of Whippedog "poor mans strop"......might you experienced guy's explain to me the difference between one of Larry's "poor man's strops" and a high end strop.......are both not a flat leather belt?

At what point will I need to upgrade from the "poor mans strop" and why ?

I wont get into the difference between an inexpensive or expensive other than to say material.

In general, different strops regardless of price will show differences in experience. Some will have more draw or less draw (speed of the razor on the strop). Material is a big factor. A cordovan strop or horse strop will usually be more expensive than cow hide. Then there is the the actual thickness of the leather being used, as well as width. Hopefully, we all arrive via the same destination regardless of the strop being used.
