Straight Razor Scales

I'm new to this straight shave fraternity as you might tell by the question but....

why aren't straight scales made out of stag like many high end knives? Because of the roughness?

Long story short, they can be. I have/had scales made of woods, bone, synthetics, horn, antler, etc.

It just seems like stag would make a gorgeous looking razor.
