storing shave stick?

Hello,

I just bought my first shave stick and went with Valobra, but was curious how do you store them when used? Do you just wrap it back in the wax paper and the original packaging?

Empty pill bottle works awesome for these. When I travel with one and the stick is shorter than the bottle, I will just put in a liddle wad of toilet paper to keep it from rattling around. (My favorite soap BTW.)

I stick a 35mm film can "cover" over my Speick stick. My Arko stick fits near perfect in an old Colgate shave stick tin.

I grate them into a sealed container. Oh sorry, that doesn't help! :blushing:

That would be my advice for travel. Although, the medicine bottle is a great idea, too. Should one worry that all the rotten chemicals in a film canister might not be too healthy (via soap application)?

I never thought this was a terribly good idea. Plastics are pretty good at trapping chemicals, and I don't know if they wash out of film canisters. I'm sure none of this would kill me (quickly), though.

I leave mine out a bit to dry, then drop them in empty pill bottles. I've drilled a couple of small holes in the caps to aid in ventilation - I'm not sure it's absolutely necessary, but I haven't had any problems with any of mine.

I put them in platoon formation, then bark close order drill commands at them.

If I have to travel with one, I have plastic tubes that used to hold epoxy putty.

You're not alone. My favorite stick as well; along with Arko. Arko generates more lather quicker, and the lather is slicker. But Valobra softens the beard better, which makes for a more comfortable shave. And it should, at ten times the price of Arko...

+1

They work great!!

Today I just got my first shaving soap sticks ever - Erasmic and Speick from WCS. I opened the Erasmic and so far have liked the smell of it.

Great idea about storing these in old pill bottles.

I do have a trivial question, though. The little plastic holder on mine was stuck in the box as the stick plopped into my lap when I opened the box. Other than helping the shave stick to stand upright is there any other purpose for this thing? Also, once I get the stick wet will I be able to stick the cap back on the end of the stick?
