I have been using a pre shave oil for a number of years now and always swore by it, but just recently i have decided to make do without it (last three shaves) and just use my MWF lather, well i can tell you that my shaves which were always quite good are now 1st class i think that maybe the two products were working against each other. Anyone else had this experience?

Thanks Robert.
I plan to cut out the oil as well over the next few shaves to see how my skin reacts. Hopefully I can cut a step(and an expense) out of my shaving routine.

Yes i think that the oil and soap were counteracting one another, my skin definately feels fresher after my shave without the oil.
yeah I agree, I think some shave oil can be used with out a soap lather, but thats no way to get a good shave either. I dont like getting oil on my good brush also.
