Though a Nasa patent proposes a similar system, it remains on paper only with no prototype yet seen.

If I can't leave the link, China has improved upon a submarine that is sterling motor power that has crossed an important benchmark for being viable long-term.

Sweden has used Stirling engine generators in some of its submarines since the 1990s. I believe this allows them to stay underwater for a few weeks. So, this is not a new development by the Chinese. They probably "borrowed" it.
