I just got back from an annual general meeting for the company I work for. I am full of paid for wine, but I just got slugged with a full on sales onslaught from about a dozen camera companies, promoting their up and coming products, and letting me play with them.

All I'll say is, save your money. There are some very cool new products coming out, possibly in time for Christmas, maybe the new year.

Actually, I was a bit underwhelmed with Nikon's efforts. The only new product to stick in my mind was a compact camera that is running android. Interesting, but... Meh.

I think they have had their moment in the sun with the d600. (Which I really like).

The fuji table had me drooling, and I'm seriously considering saving for the new X-E1. And the new GoPro black has a 4k chip. I saw the quality that it can record at, and I was gob-smacked. On a big HD TV the films look like they were made with a cine camera.

Just saw an email from two of my engineers. They were talking about the 4k GoPro camera. Said the retail is 399.00 usd. Does that sound right?

It will be a bit more than that in Aus, but that could possibly be right for the US. You may need to spend a bit extra on memory (the new ones use micro SD cards instead of regular ones) but they have wifi as standard, which was an optional extra on the Hero 2.
