Stainless Steel question

I just received an Ikon OSS. The fit and finish, and stainless contruction is outstanding. It's what I want in a razor. I guess I prefer knowing its made of the best possible materials.
Can anyone point me to a Stainless razor that's more agressive? This is very similar to a 25c and FAR less agressive than an EJ89.
The SS razors I'm aware of are Ikon, Tradere, Weber and Feather. I've used a feather and ruled it out, as the Oss shaves as mildly.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I just finished my first Ikon Shave Craft shave. I thought it was aggressive...but most of my experience is with EJ89s and Weber Polished Head. I would be surprised if the OSS was a lot different from the Shave Craft...So this must be way-y-y YMMV. I would love to hear some other opinions.

I haven't tried the iKon OSS razor to really know, but all the stainless razors I have tried are more aggressive than the EJ DE89.
Above the Tie Titan with the H1 base plate is the most aggressive I know. It really is in R41 territory. They get milder from there with the R1 and M1 baseplates; the M1 is still, to my perception, solidly "moderate" (not really 'mild' except in relation to the others in the series).
The 2013 iKon standard bar razor is more aggressive than the 2013 iKon Open Comb, by reputation. I have one and would say it is indeed very similar to the Titan with M1 in terms of aggressiveness. I like both of these razors a whole lot.

The Webers are milder. Still not as mild as the DE89, but not too far off, either. (I believe the Polished is the most aggressive of the bunch, and the only one available these days; I do not have a justification for thinking so except the level of care required between the three in my possession. Maybe that's idiosyncratic to the particular razors and not to the types of razors categorically. Whatever the case, they have more blade gap than the DE89 and are a bit more efficient, at least; they also need a slightly different angle).

Hope that helps. From what I read, the Tradere OC is more aggressive than the Tradere SB (reverse of the 2013 iKons); and I think also on the moderately aggressive side of things. But now I'm getting into razors I haven't used, so I'll stop here.

Do you have a prototype? That is, what head is on the Shavecraft? (I think the full Shavecraft razor is not yet available from iKon -- just the handles, no?)
Now that I think about it, you might mean the 2013 iKon OC head on a Shavecraft handle. I've seen your thread with that set-up. (And one of these days I might get that OC baseplate to compare, myself, but can't help the OP with the comparison at this point).

I use this razor system. It consists of a Feather head, Weber handle and all of the Ikon baseplates. The order of the Ikons from mild to aggressive is OSS - OC - SB. Please be aware that the SB is very aggressive.

I use this system by starting with the Feather and every 3-4 shaves I switch to a more agressive baseplate. I seldom use the SB and then only with Super Iridium or Gillette black Indians.

I had the system grinded and replated in black chrome by Onotoman.

There are more pictures in my gallery.

That's an awesome set-up, bosseb. I've admired it on other threads. What is the "grinded" step about? Do the iKon or Feather razors come with flaws that need to be ground? Or is it something else?

I would suggest you to try a Tradere OC but, the most aggressive one for me is an ATT Titan H1. Both are mechanized from solid bars of SS, as far as I know, which is not the case for the other trademarks that you mentioned (correct me if I am wrong).

Bye!

It's about the quality of the Ikon parts compared to the Feather parts. The Ikon parts needed some grinding to be as smooth to the touch as the Feather parts. As did the Weber handle. NB this is only detectable when actually touching the parts!

Sometimes the discussion seems become very manufacturing oriented - for me the feeling when I touch a razor is what it's all about, not how it was made!

On a personal note I must say that given the problems with stainless steel in manufacturing or altering I certanly understand why my local platers won't do stainless.
