St John's Bay Rum

Hi All

What do you guys think of St John's Bay rum and their various other versions. I recieved their sample set last night i kinda like their original Bay Rum. it smells quite "smooth". I was also in Pasteur the other day and compared Captains Choice BR with the St Johns BR. Out of the bottle i thought the St Johns smelled nicer. However i have heard that Bay Rum scents can smell quite different after an hour. Can anyone comment on this pls?

Thanks

I've read that. I think it is some, not all. I used Ogallala and Masters before settling on Dominica. I don't think Ogallala or Masters changed. Dominica on the other hand doesn't smell like anything after an hour. It is light to begin with and fades fast. See what others say about other Bay Rums.

To me, St. John's is top of the line. I'm using Dominica right now, and that's what I view bay rum as what it originally intended to be, a mild elixir much like witch hazel. It definitely doesn't last long, but it does tone and condition the skin.

St. John's is a step up from this. My only problem with it is that I wished it would stay with me longer, but it doesn't. I will restock my supply. The bay rum balm by St. John's needs to be tried, if you get the chance.

I've tried some of their other products. The West Indies Lime aftershave was just okay; too candy-like in scent for me. Island Spice was a nice one, as I remember, but it was a long time ago and my tastes may have changed. Indian Gold reminded me of Raid bug spray... I tossed that one immediately.

I really liked their Island Spice scent. Very nice, not as strong as their plain bay rum. Does anyone know what ingredients they use? Is their any witch hazel or is it just alcohol, water and scent?

Are they all colognes or are some considered aftershaves? Cant tell on the samples i have.

I want to buy one but they are so pricey i can only really get one of them. Have to decide....grrr

BTW i thought the lime & floral was too floral for me. Almost feminine. I kinda like the regular lime scent.

Anyone else have any of these?

I have both the Bay Rum and Island Spice. Nice scents but not for after shave. They are cologne strength.

I have other Bay Rum after shaves and my preferred one is Captain's Choice Co9Ts.

The regular Bay Rum and the Island Spice are the ones i like best so far too! How would you say their longevity is?

I also like Capt Choice Lime. the St John's stuff seems "smoother"
