SSA restore

I was able to finish a SSA straight that I had started a while ago. I tried to keep as much of the etching as possible, otherwise it would simply be a blank blade. I'm very happy with how it turned out. The original scales were broken, so I used some old ones from another discarted straight. I also built myself a light box so the pictures are a bit better now, although the razor looks better than what is shown in the pictures.

Also, the razor won't close centered :( I thought I had it fixed before pinning, but when I did there was no way around it, I have to watch and guide it when I close it. I figured out it was actually the pin holes that were not drilled straight... Oh well! I'm getting better at this, but the making-scales part is where I have most of my trouble, so the next few razors I will again with horn and see what comes out.

Thanks! I kinda regret not tracing the scales so that I can reproduce them for other razors, its quite simple but very nice&thin.
I was thinking of honing it tomorrow night but I might wait for some 1um lapping film on which I could finish it after the naniwa 8k.

Just curious about something. I see you polished most of the blade, but left some up by the tang. Was there etching on the tang? And can you show the etching a bit better or is it hard to see?

Looks great otherwise. I can't wait to get started on my projects soon.

Indeed, I had another look at the razor and I definitely did neglect the tang a little bit... I think its probably because I put most of my attention to the blade, and trying not to remove all of the etching from the shank, and forgot the tang. There's nothing written on it. However on the shank (I had to lookup the razors parts again here http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Straight_razors to make sure we were talking about the same thing), there is an etching "SSA - Helk...). I'll try to see if I can get some clearer shots tonight. I really just kept it since it was the only marking on the blade.
