Speakeasy Aquisitions -- January 2010

Wine and champagne is generally more expensive over here than in the US.

I've been on the K&L website.

Chateau Fonreaud Listrac 2006 - 10 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now over here, Taittinger Brut Reserve NV is normally just over 30 quid, it's available as Taittinger La Francaise in the US at 35 dollars.

Grabbed the last bottle on special offer (Had to use a bottle of Moet to reach it )

FIFTEEN QUID !!!!!!!!!

Let's start the year as we mean to carry on :wink2:

Drove about 25 miles to the nearest Waitrose supermarket that stocked this little beauty.

Normally around the forty quid mark, Waitrose were offering Aberlour 16 at £23.99 until tuesday.

Picked up some quality groceries and this Speyside stunner.

Does a canoe count as a speakeasy acquisition? I just pulled the trigger on a Scorpius XM OC-1 racing canoe in a crystal white/smoke grey color scheme from Kai Wa'a. This is just preemptive glee for the moment. It's going to be built for me on Maui within this next month. I had to lay down a pretty hefty deposit, so my spine is a bit tingly. I'm not sure what the sig.other will have to say about this but I don't care! I'll post a picture when it has really arrived.

Here's a short video from Kai about the boat on blip.tv

Started off the new year with a bottle of Woodford Reserve, based on the input from members here. Very smooth and is great in an old fashioned. Good looking bottle as well.

Quick and dirty pic from the cell phone of my most recent scores

Not pictured: Xikar lighter, Firstland cigar scissors, Glencairn whisky glass, x2 no-name pilsner glasses, Mitcher's rye, Yamakazi 12 and Chivas 12

Edit: I should have closed the shades before taking the pic

I like your tastes. Of course, that has nothing to do with that bottle sitting there. COYI! :thumbup1:

They're those new Black Label torpedos . . . red ones are the Verocu blend, which was used in the East Coast/West Coast sticks. Like almost everything Pete puts out these days, they're a "limited release." :001_rolle

I had (and smoked) a jar of the original Tat Blacks, and the tubos aren't as good . . . but they're still pretty darn tasty.

Cool, I'll look into those.

I had a cigar score yesterday as well, nothing on that scale though. Just a Padron Serie 1926 #35 and a Davidoff Millenium Short Robusto. Already smoked the Padron, the Davidoff is waiting for my birthday :w00t:

Today's junk shop find. For the princely sum of three Australian dollars I bought this "heavy glass bottle".

It's a Krosno Odin decanter, handmade in Poland. Score!

I also got this cool looking vintage ice bucket, maker unknown. It cost $1.50 :w00t:

I know it's February but all these things were bought in January
*except for the elephant, it's made from the volcanic rock of Etna and my dad brought it last year. I thought it looks good with the JUMBO filters in the back
