I was going to take the weekend off but I couldn't resist having a freshly shaved face for a Saturday afternoon. I'm still trying to get the hang of lathering soaps but I feel like it went fairly well with the VDH. I had a BIC loaded that was on it's second shave but the first pass was SO rough I had to change it out for a fresh blade. It was very strange as the BIC blade I used before had no problems providing me with 3 smooth shaves. Must have been a bad blade. All in all, things went pretty well. Enjoy the weekend!

The best lather I've had using MWF in ages! I wonder if it was the brush, the hot water or the lathering technique? Obviously I have more detective work!:laugh:

I scored the soap from eBay. It's used - no idea how old it is. My guess would be 50s-60s. But wow, what thick, rich tallowy lather! The only drag is there's no scent left. I'm BBS, tho. :thumbup:

Simple, smooth, and I smell nice, says the wife.

She makes a strong argument for hollow ground razors! The blade near the edge is exceptionally thin. Paper thin, very hollow ground plus carbon steel makes for a very sharp razor with plenty of feedback. (Martin put a great edge on it, however, I am particular about my edges so I re-honed it.)
