Solingen "The Regent" - 7/8"

I am starting to get into straights and this is the first razor I bought. It was a total impulse buy and I didnt know the size or quality of the razor. I was only given one picture.

I received it today and it looks completely unused. The only flaw is that the scales are a little disformed on the one side other than that there is no signs of wear at all. It isnt even that dirty. I have no idea if I made a good purchase or not. I am hoping that someone can help me out on this one, basically what year it was made and how much it is worth. All I know is that it was made in Germany and is a Solingen "The Regent". The blade width measures 7/8" which is bigger than what I was expecting. Anyways here are some pics. Let me know how I did.

Thanks for looking,
Brian

You did outstanding!

"Finest silver steel" is of high quality and really nice and smooth.

Top and Bottom Jimps are a nice touch, and little to no (tough to see exactly) hone wear.

I don't know if it's unsure as on your 3rd picture, it looks like there's was a bevel set at one stage. It doesn't matter much. It's a nice score. The scales are badly crooked, do you need to guide the blade in? It might need a new set of scales.

Other than that, I'd say, not a bad score, depending on how much you paid, of course...

I took some more pics. I am only working with a Iphone 4 so they arent the best, sorry about that. The scales are badly warped but surprisingly the blade doesnt hit the edge. The pins are very tight. I didnt try flinging the blade shut lol but I dont have to push the blade to the one side to close it.

So if I paid $55 for the razor is it still a good deal?

At $55, I don't think you made a steal but it's not so bad... I try not to go over $20 when I buy a non shave ready straight... NOS blades being the exception but you didn't do too bad!
