I like that ancient threads can still be relevant 9 years later.
I've only tried one soap and one cream.
I don't know what soap I have, it came with the "Premium Shaving Set" that I ordered on Amazon.
I've been developing my lather technique with it have had a few breakthroughs with it and can build up a pretty good lather with it now that I understand that I wasn't using enough water, and after I started filling the mug just over the top of the soap.
My first cream was Proraso. It lathered up like I knew what I was doing, felt great on my face and really cushioned well, unfortunately, it burned the living hell out of my face afterward.
I will have to try the Proraso Sensitive and hope that it's easier on my face.
I like the soap but it needs to be kept moist and I find it has a nice slickness but with the cream and it's more rigid foam, i actually got the best shave ever.
Of course, I have a lot of things still to try and a long journey before I can say anything definitive, you really have to try both and make up your mind.
