Smooth shave from a rough blade

I've been going through my sampler, revisiting some favorite blades and trying some new ones. One thing I've noticed is that the feeling during the shave doesn't always represent the outcome of the finished shave. For example, the past two days I've used a Shark Super Stainless. The shave itself seemed a little rough, like the blade wasn't sharp enough, but the end result was a nice, smooth shave with no weepers and no irritation. Anybody else have a blade that feels a little rough during use but leaves them BBS?

I get this sometimes, and it is not just an outcome of blades, but certain creams or soaps as well. It's generally just a sense of excess tugging, but the end results are fine. I don't use those products if I can help it as there are plenty of others that work just as well, but are more comfortable.

As said above...I've found blades that have a good end result but during the shave it was unpleasant. I've also had blades that were extremely unforgiving and required extra attetion to obtain a nick free shave but would leave me bbs. I simply pass these blades on and reach for blades that have proven themselves to be sharp and smooth.

I get it too, but I find that it is not necessarily the blade at fault. Sometimes it's the brand of blade in a particular razor just doesn't work. Also, sometimes it's my lather. Before I give up on a brand of blade, I like to try them in different razors using Barbasol, just to take out a variable.

Perhaps a little bit with a Topaz Platinum, yesterday. But a tad less close as usual too. Today I used a Shark SS, and that was smooth, and close.
