"Slop" in Slim Adjustable?

I'm a DE newbie and got a Gillette Slim Adjustable as my 1st non-cartridge razor. This morning I noticed that the blade exposure is sloppy. One edge is exposed more than the other. And both edges have one end that is exposed more than the other(more/less gap at the opposite ends,I guess you would say).

I assume that the razor is normal as it looks undamaged and is near mint.Is this due to the adjustment mechanism? It's a bit disconcerting to see this while trying so hard to use good technique. It's like the razor is set on "1" on one side and "2" on the other, but even that varies from one end of the blade to the other.Seems like this would lead to a very inconsistent shave.

Is there an adjustable that doesn't do this?Does this occur with non-adjustables?Maybe I need to look at a Merkur HD.......or something else?Suggestions much appreciated!

Thanks,Fred

Yes,the razor was tightened well.It looks like it could be bent a tiny bit.Or was just out of adjustment all along. The tiny nicks on the left of the door are so small as to be nearly invisibble to the naked eye,so I don't think they mean anything.

But you can see the way the blade seems to bend down to the left and the gap is definitely smaller to the left.

I couldn't get a photo to show how there is more blade exposed on one side (edge) vs the other.

it was probably dropped at some point and the safety bar is now bent. You could try bending it back (carefully) with a screwdriver.

Jan,

I think you are correct.I tried a screwdriver, but it seemed to put too much pressure on the doors. So I tapped the safety bar with a hammer and it's much better.I think it will be fine, now. It's a slight bit dinged up.....but function over beauty!

Thanks to all!

Thanks!I think I got lucky(but ruined my "adjustable slant")....Figured I had nothing to lose. It's pretty close to even all the way around.
