Skip WTG pass if shaving daily ?

So I tend to think of the WTG pass as intended to remove visibly long stubble. If I shave daily, I will not have visibly long stubble, just stubble that can only be felt by touching one's face. So lately that I've been shaving daily I have been going straight to a XTG pass followed by an ATG pass and then touch ups. Saves time and I figure reduces possibility of irritation too, though I'm not getting irritation either way.

This is using an Edwin Jagger DE89. Any cons to doing this ?

Exception proving the rule; I am a daily shaver and often I'll only do 2 WTG passes and some touch up.

However, those passes are with a dialed up slim and very often feather blades loaded so I get effective reduction.

I believe the equipment may alter the approach...

Try it. It's your face. But I think you will go back to a first WTG pass before a week passes. Your best quickie shave will be with two WTG passes. Or maybe even one, which is how I shave 90% of the time. I know for a fact that I can't handle a daily shave of a single ATG pass.

So are you saying I'll get irritation ? If I do then I'll know I can't shave daily. I don't see the point in doing only WTG passes for daily shaving, as it doesn't get me the BBS, so I see no incentive in that.

You have to try it and see for yourself. I cannot do it as if is very uncomfortable. If you have light growth and thinner whiskers, you may be able to pull it off with no problem.

No you wont get irritation if you follow these prep rules:

Moisture is your friend
The only Good razor blades are sharp razor blades
Lather belongs on your face.
Better shave creams cost more.
Learn your face

Then, when you are properly prepped, using short strokes, shave XTG/ATG, ie, where your whiskers grow to towards 6 ocklock, you stroke at 4 oclock.

Guaranteed one pass close to no irritation BBS right off the bat

Got it all down pat. I may have just started with a DE, but I'm not a newbie to wet shaving

Everyone is different, but try it for a couple of weeks and see. If I skip the WTG too many times my skin protests.

I have gone to a 2-pass shave: First WTG and the final ATG.

I am doing a monthly rotation with either a Feather AS-D1, Muhle R89 Rosegold or an EJ DE89 Barley Chrome. All three are loaded with Feather blades and I am almost always BBS after a couple of touch ups.

I firmly believe that a good lather is the key to a great shave. I didnt start the 2-pass shaving until I whittled down my soaps/creams to those that work best for me. Now, no matter which product I grab, I am getting a thick protective lather.

Once I was confident with my combination of software and hardware; I focused on technique and found that the 2-pass worked for me
