single side comb 1910 canadian gillette?

hello, I picked up an old gillette it only has a comb on one side. the other side has no bar, no comb. It only has a rounded edge under right under the head edge. The blade just hangs out there. Anybody know exactly why they made these? Maybe for cutting a beard off? or to trim the back of the neck straight across. Its made in canada in the first decade of 1900. I could use some more info, please. thanks

Perhaps it's a custom job? Someone dropped it and knocked some teeth off, so they decided to cut them off? I don't think it would be a production model, because it's not very "safe" to have an exposed edge on a safety razor.

No , this has a rounded edge on the guard, its made like that. no bar just a nice rounded edge under the blade. not too far behind the edge. sometime I will post a picture, I cant right now, no camera. the rounded edge is heavy, in other words if you filed a comb, you couldnt leave more brass to make the gentle curve of the roundness. Its like a round lip that protrudes down.

Well, the ball on the end is from a Canadian Old Type circa 1910-1911, as seen here. But the handle isn't the same. I think this is a Frankenrazor that someone has pieced together and grinded one side of the comb off of. For that price, you've at least got an interesting conversation piece.

It may be a frankenrazor, but I don't think there's been any grinding done. It looks like it was made that way. Does it say gillette on the bottom plate? Those teeth do look like gillette.

sorry for not supplying the picture. but thats it. I am new to computers, dont even have a camera. I agree it looks like it was made that way. I think the handle was worth the money. I have at least a dozen razors that have unoriginal handles. This handle will be another I use. I may trim the side burns with the toothless side guard. thanks for the feedback.
