What's new

Simpson Polo 10 or Shavemac 944?

Interested in your input...

I'm looking to get one of the following; and may well end up getting both.

Simpson Polo 10 Super 28/55

or

Shavemac 944 D01 3 Band Fan 28/54

I'm looking at the expert section of Shavemac...thus my "preferred" knot/loft.

I understand the Shavemac 2 Band is on the scritchy side...thus my choice for the 3 band. I assume a 3 Band Fan is preferable over a 3 Band bulb? Or no?

I'm a face lathering guy...MWF, Tabac, Arko, Euro Palmolive, etc...

Current "favorite" brushes include: Chubby 3 Super, Chubby 2 Best, Thater 4292/6 2 Band Fan, Simpson 59 2 Band & Rudy Vey 32/55 2 Band Finest.

Which would you choose and why?

If the Shavemac...what specs do you think?

If the Polo 10...go Super or Best?

My pick would be the Polo 10 Super in 2-band. It has nice backbone and soft tips, plus the most comfortable handle of any brush I own. I have paired down my collection of over 30 brushes to about 8. I have kept the Polo 10 2-band Super as one of those. I do have a custom Shavemac in D01 3-band. It has very good backbone and soft tips and thus matches up well with the Polo in that regard. The D01 knot is a bit denser than my Polo 2-band, but I think the Polo's density is just right to work well but not hog lather. Overall, I give the Polo the slight edge because the handle style and knot density work better for me as a face latherer.
