Simpson Brushes, Duke 3

So I have decided to take Marco's advise and buy a Duke 3 in Best. The question now is where should I get one. I know vendors carry them, but should I get one from Superior Shave so I can see exactly what I'm getting. The only thing I have read bad about Simpsons is that some look more like pure badger instead of best. What's yall opinions. $1.jpg

Below are images from the Superior Shave so for those that would recommend one from there which one would you pick. Obviously #4 is sold.

Yes you should buy from Jarrod even if it costs a little extra. With Simpsons it's important to be able to see what you're buying. I would go with #5 personally to get a little bit extra loft for better flow through.

1 vote for number 5.

I would be under the impression that the brushes that have the extra .5 or extra inch of loft are imperfections by Simpsons?i

I've been eyeballing that #6 brush for weeks. Tallest loft in the bunch (as if fractions of a millimeter in height really make that much difference), but the fan shape is what caught my eye. I bet that brush blooms beautifully and covers your face like a mop. Why don't you buy it so I'll stop being tempted?

Well #6 for one has a hair already out of shape it appears in the second photo. Don't know if that's a problem or not. I'm not an expert, but why would a hair like that be in that position?

I saw that in the picture, and it wouldn't bother me. It's just one hair. There's gonna be a lot more get bent, fall out, whatever in the course of using the brush. Now a whole chunk of hairs bent like that would be a problem for me! Get the brush you like. Don't let us influence you. But I do like the shape of that one myself. I've bought too many brushes from Superior already. The wife unit doesn't know about all my brushes. It's a good thing she doesn't pay too close attention to what I do. But I've got to exercise some restraint!

Looking at the picture again, I'm not sure that hair even belongs to brush 6. The black is in the wrong place. And if it belongs to brush 6, it should be lying on brush 7 in the top picture. It might just be a loose hair.

Marco: the man, the myth, the legend. Been waiting for you input. This could be the downside to The Superior Shave website, options as where the other guys just send you the brush.

#6, You're gonna lose some hairs, don't let one or two miss-shaped hairs effect your purchase, it's a Simpson and it has plenty more hairs

#3 for lightest tips and knot uniformity

I like #3 too. It has a nice bulb shape. Almost the opposite of the fan shape of #6. See, tsimmns, you're going to have to pick the one YOU want and ignore all of us. But get #6 so I can quit lusting after it! Ha!
