Hi gents, I'm interested in a Simpson brush that will be used predominantly for bowl lathering. I have a Chubby 2 in super, which I love, but IMO it's a little to stout for bowl lathering comfortably. I like the look and size of the Emperor 3 but I'm not set on it and would love recommendations. Thanks.

Polo 8 best!
I had a Polo 8 in super and I just could not get my head around it. For a while I thought I wanted to get the whole Polo family but in the end I sold the Polo 8 in super and my polo 12 in best. The loft was just too short for the density to let it be a great bowl lathering brush (IMHO anyway). Maybe I'm just too picky
How about something in the Fifty series -- 57 and above.
I have an Emperor 2 that is a great bowl latherer, honestly though I have many Simpsons and I use all of them in the bowl primarily with no complaints (even a Chubby1), my face does not tolerate face lathering too often. as long as the bowl is wider than deep any brush will work IMO.

The flair at the base hooks on the edge of a bowl well and doesn't let it fall in plus it add a nice grip

Thanks franz the fifty series do like they'd make a fine brush for bowl lathering.
M7 has treated me well.
I have both the Persian Jar 3 in Super and the Emperor 3 in 2 Band Super. Both are wonderful at bowl lathering. The Persian Jar is denser, so it will use more product.
If I were purchasing only one of them, it would most likely be the Persian Jar.

Another two Simpson's you might like too consider: Keyhole KH4 or The Beaufort B6......

Thanks Tonsor, I almost pulled the trigger today on a PJ3 in Super. I held off because I still like the Emperor. I keep going back to the PJ3 in Super. I really think I am going to go with the PJ3 in Super.
Another vote for the Emperor here.

You do know that the Harvard comes in 6 versions with knot sizes from 17mm to 26mm?

You don't have to get the uber jumbo H6 size if you are looking for a smaller brush
Allow for sufficient break-in time. The PJ3 is a very dense brush.
